Will I need a passport for this trip?

To enter St. Maarten and St. Barths, you will need a passport that is valid for at least six months after your date of departure from St. Maarten. Customs will require two complete pages in your passport for processing your entrance and return. Please ensure your passport has adequate pages. We recommend that you make photocopies of your passport. Be sure to leave one copy at home with family members and carry one copy in your purse and/or luggage. In the event that your passport is lost or stolen, this will make the re-issuing of your passport much easier. We would also like for you to scan your passport and upload it to your registration, or email a copy to the Yamaha Elite Concierge at concierge@yamahaelitedealers.ca. This will help expedite your check-in process when you arrive at the hotel.

Can I extend my stay at Sonesta Ocean Point – Adults Only Resort?

The program covers five (5) nights at Sonesta Ocean Point. To request additional nights and/or rooms, please email concierge@yamahaelitedealers.ca and we will coordinate with the hotel to determine availability. Participants will be responsible for the cost of additional nights. Please do not contact the hotel directly as we are coordinating on your behalf.

 

May I bring a guest to participate on this trip?

Yes, you are welcome to bring one (1) adult guest (over the age of 21) to accompany you on this trip. Your guest is invited to participate in all functions.

 

What is the program attire?

For the entire program, we recommend resort casual attire. Please make sure your attire is brand appropriate (no offensive language or imagery).

 

What will the weather be like?

The average temperature in St. Maarten and St. Barth’s during the day is 29 degrees C. During the evenings and early mornings, the temperature is around 23 degrees C.

 

What time zone will I be in?

During our time in St. Maarten, we will be on Atlantic Standard Time (AST). AST is one hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time.

 

Are ATMs available?

ATMs (Automatic Teller Machines or Bank Machines) will accept cards from the Canada and are available throughout the airport and Sonesta property. You can always use Debit and Credit Cards once on property and at the casino.

 

​Flight Upgrades & Baggage Fees

All upgrades and fees for checked and carry-on luggage will be at your own expense. Please check your airline website for specific guidelines on costs associated with checked and carry-on luggage. In the case of weather or airline strike, delays or cancellations, guests must adhere to airline rebooking policy or pay for flight change on their own.

 

Cellular Phones

Canadian cellular phones will work while in St. Maarten and St. Barth’s, but roaming fees will apply. Prior to your arrival, contact your cell phone provider to add an international plan or ask what international rates will apply. We recommend downloading the free app, WhatsApp, which allows you to communicate via call and messages by using Wi-Fi or data. You will need to be sure all people you wish to contact have also downloaded WhatsApp.

 

Exchange Rate

The exchange rate will fluctuate daily so you can check online to see the going rate on any given date. Exchange money only as needed. For credit card purchases, the rate is dependent upon the rate at the time the charge is processed.

 

Tipping

Gratuities for all Yamaha-hosted events, including hotel, are included in the program. However, when you are out on your own, tipping is appreciated. Gratuities are seldom included in restaurant bills.  It is customary to tip approximately 10-15% on the total bill before tax, less for poor service, more for truly exceptional service. However, tipping is always your choice.

 

​Yamaha Concierge

The Yamaha Concierge will be available to assist you on the trip each day at the hospitality desk from 7:00am - 7:00pm. Please ask them any questions regarding your itinerary, or scheduled events.
